Beck Shoots 78 for Sandburg Men’s Golf at Illinois Valley

The Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team placed fourth in the fifth Arrowhead Conference meet of the spring season, hosted by Illinois Valley on Wednesday at Senica’s Oak Ridge.
Playing as an individual, Cooper Beck (Petersburg, Ill./PORTA) had the low round of the day for Sandburg with a 6-over-par 78 to tie for eighth. Beck’s round included birdies at the par-5 sixth as well as the par-5 15th.
Trace White (Mount Pleasant, Iowa/Mount Pleasant) finished 14th with an 8-over 80, and Grant Otting (Taylor Ridge, Ill./Rockridge) was one shot behind him to tie for 15th. Cole Hopping (Vermont, Ill./VIT) carded an 83 to place 17th, and Calvin Peterson (Williamsfield, Ill./Williamsfield) was the Chargers’ fourth scorer with an 84.
Host IVCC shot 302 to take first place as a team. Black Hawk was two shots behind at 304, and Sauk Valley was third with a 323. Black Hawk’s Ethan Earl was medalist with a 1-under 71.
